Ocean Park With Babies and Toddlers

Author:Hkbabies

Under 3s are free. Also, HKID holders get in free on their birthday. To enjoy this offer, show your ID card at the ticketing counter, sign the register and show your ID card again at the turnstiles.

Parking is $70. With an annual pass, it’s half price: $45.

Strollers

Don’t bother. Ocean Park really wasn’t designed with strollers in mind and it seems little has been done to rectify that. Steps are everywhere – even inside the Atoll Reef and other buildings. You must also fold the stroller to access the cable cars.

If it’s not possible to leave the stroller at home or in the car, make sure you have another adult’s help. S/he can guard the stroller when you’re on the rides and help to lift it up and down steps.

Feeding/Food

On the headland, the most popular restaurant in the Bayview. The view is spectacular. The food is not. It’s a self-service café. Expect to pay about $50-70 for a meal (discount for annual pass holders). They do have kids’ plates but they are comprised of very suspect-looking frankfurters, chips and other non-nutritional goodies.

The Terrace Café also serves Western food.

McDonald’s is easy, but no seating. Some seating is nearby around the corner.

Generally, seating is not easy to find. To find a quiet seat to nurse your baby would be a challenge, in my opinion.

Toilets

Toilets are just OK in terms of cleanliness. You might not always find toilet paper in the ladies but you’ll almost certainly find queues. I didn’t see any changing stations.

Rides/shows

Kids’ World has a bouncy castle and an excellent climbing wall up to an extremely high and steep slide. OK for about 2 years +.

TIP: Skip the dolphin show. You’ll need to queue for at least 30 minutes as it often fills up 25-20 minutes before the start of the show and the kids will get tetchy waiting. Instead, just go to the dolphin university. You can see the dolphins up close there swimming around.

And…

One more point to remember – Ocean Park closes at 6pm. They stop visitors entering the park sometime before that.
